This new Antarctic expedition is something special.

This very rare and unique Antarctic Expedition is an opportunity to visit this untouched land from Australia, and see and experience some of the most interesting parts of the region as well as Mawson’s Hut.

If you have ever dreamed of travel to the Antarctic, but have been put off by the sheer logistics of it, this may be just the way to do it.

Normally you have to travel to the bottom of South America to join a specialised cruise, or hitch a ride on a supply ship. Neither are ideal.

Just announced recently is a new tour that has us quite excited.

In the Wake of Mawson

It’s called “In the Wake of Mawson”, and it’s run by Peregrine Adventures. The best bit is that it departs from Australia.

But you have to be quick, because it has a maximum of 48 passengers.

The tour (or more correctly, expedition!) is for 26 days and you will travel aboard the ice-strengthened expedition cruise ship, the Akademik Shokalskiy.

It departs from Hobart on 10th December 2018 and finishes in Bluff, New Zealand on 4th January. So you are travelling at the best time of year. That doesn’t equate to an easy trip, but the possibility of experiencing some difficult weather and ocean is half the adventure.

A highlight of the trip is the chance to visit Mawson’s Hut. It’s actually a group of huts, and they are pretty much the same as when Mawson was there. Fewer people have seen this than have conquered Mount Everest.

Another highlight, of course, will be the many species of penguins. You will have a chance to see them close up. A friend of ours wore his best dinner suit and black tie so when he met them on the Antarctic ice everyone felt at ease!

On-shore visits

You will be visiting the shore in a Zodiac, a solid inflatible boat that is ideal for the expeditions you will be taking from the ship, both in Antarctica and around the sub-Antarctic islands you will be visiting.

On board will be experts in the nature of Antarctic, so there’s a chance to learn heaps about what you’ll be exploring.

This thrilling trip starts from A$26,410 per person. Call us now or email for more details!
